Cats don't like water
We often have cat grooming clients concerned because they think that their cat isn't going to tolerate the bathing process.
The fact that cats don't like water has been a myth that continues to be passed on.
We groom hundreds of cats every month. Yes some cats (about 5-10%) do not like the water. The rest cope really well with it and majority actually seem to enjoy it. To be honest, we often get more dogs behaving badly with the bathing process.
Do not believe the myths about cats and their grooming. We have been doing this regularly for a while now and know that cats majority of the time respond very well to grooming, including a bath & blow dry.
We believe that the following video may prove the statement "cats don't like water" to be false.
Watch this video and tell us what you think!

Cancellation & No Show Policy
Being a busy "by appointment" business, we appreciate a courtesy call with at least 24 hours notice of you not being able to make your appointment.
This allows us to offer the spot to other clients waiting for a groom for their pet and keep on top of staffing requirements for each day.
If we do not receive notification, there is a fee to cover each pet that was booked in for the spot. This fee will be required to be paid before your next appointment. Saturdays are in high demand and generally have more staff to cover the workload. A no show or late cancellation has a higher fee for Saturdays.
For regular occurances, we would require pre payment for any future appointments.
We know life can be busy and unexpected things can arise, so please let us know as soon as possible if you are not able to make your scheduled appointment with us.

Another Cat Grooming Convert
Thank you so much for grooming Panda today, I really can't get over how silky soft he is and great before and after photos, he looks so grumpy in the before one haha.
He was so relaxed on the car trip home, which is a good sign for sure. I'll definitely be back when it gets a bit hotter so he can get a lovely lion cut. Thanks again and great job :) xx

Another Cat Grooming Convert
Our kitty, Mia, is a rescue cat and so we're not sure of her past, but she's always been quite wary and insecure.
When we first adopted her a few years she mewed in terror the entire drive home. In fact despite her being a very loved and cuddled cat, she's mewed in terror to every vet visit or other outing we've had to take her to the entire time we've had her. Except for yesterday when she had her groom at Nose2Tail Pet Care. She mewed in terror all the way there, but after having been pampered, groomed, loved, washed and dried by the team, she spent the ride back in our car with that purry contented eyes-half-closed look that cats get when they're feeling really nice about themselves.
Perhaps it has something to do with the feeling that a cat gets when it is cleaned by something other than its own spit, but we suspect it has more to do with the considerate professionalism and cat-whispering skills that they have at Nose2Tail.
...
We can't recommend them enough to anyone who loves their pet and wants them to have a lovely experience being groomed.
Jesse and Nicole, Kenmore.

The BEST litter tray system you will ever use!
Not a lot of people have heard of the Oz Pet Cat Loo. We have been using this system for years with our cat and would never go back to another way. We also use one in the shop for our salon cat Samson.
The benefits of this fantastic eco friendly litter system are:
The benefits of this fantastic eco friendly litter system are:
- You use much less litter - a 2kg bag of litter will last us about a month for 1 cat.
- You cannot smell the litter unless it needs changing
- Dirty litter falls through the top sieve so you always have clean fresh litter on top
- Your cat isn't standing in dirty litter everytime they use the tray.
- The used litter can be put on the garden or in the compost
- Eco friendly litter manufactured from waste plantation sawdust.
- Recycles waste wood that would otherwise be dumped.
- Contains no additives.
- Can be composted or used as mulch.
- 100% organic
- Safe for your cat - no inhaling dangerous dust often associated with clumping litter
- No tracking of litter through the house
How does it work?
You place a small amount of litter on the bottom tray. Place the sieve tray onto the bottom tray and put a small amount of litter in the sieve. We use about a handful for each.
Once the cat has used the litter tray, simply shake the whole tray and wet litter will crumble and fall into the bottom tray. Any liquid that goes straight through the sieve will be absorbed by the litter that is on the bottom tray.
Remove any solid waste as soon as possible.
Empty the litter tray when all the litter has been used. The litter in the sieve should still be clean fresh litter, so we will tip this litter into the bottom tray and replace the litter in the sieve.
It's as easy as that. You will use a lot less cat litter, the tray will not get smelly like other trays and you are using a product that is safe for your cat. The Oz Pet Cat Loo system will save you money in the long run & you will LOVE IT!
We have sold many of these litter trays and always have the same feedback. They are fabulous! If your cat is used to a different litter it may take you a few weeks or so to transition them over, but it is totally worth it in the endSunday, November 25, 2012
Tips for grooming your puppy at home
Everybody loves puppies! If you have just got a new puppy, you may be a little overwhelmed by the whole idea of grooming. Below are a few tips to help make your grooming session as positive as possible for you and your new puppy.
Brush daily & Comb Daily. The longer the coat, the more frequently you need to brush. If you are not able to keep up with the grooming requirements for your dog, keep their coat shorter.
Groom your puppy when they are tired. They are less likely for them to become playful and bite. Biting may be cute when they are puppies, but as they get older it can hurt a lot. Biting is also a very bad habit to allow, especially if your dog needs regular professional grooming. You need to teach them the appropriate behaviour.
Have treats available to reward good, calm behaviour. Treats can also help to distract your puppy from what you are doing. It brings a good association to the grooming process.
Always follow brushing with a comb. A brush will often brush over the top of knots, where a comb will get caught in any tangles.
Pay particular attention to areas that have friction - under collars, harnesses, long ears, under front legs and around the tail & backside. A small tangle in these areas can turn into a big knot or mat up very quickly!
Long coats need to be blow dried after a bath. If you allow a long coat to air dry it can become extremely matted literally over night. Once they are dried you will need to brush and them comb through the coat to avoid knots. Any knots that have had water applied to them will become tighter, so it is best to remove knots before bathing.
Short coats should invest in a Zoom Groom. It helps to remove dead and dying coat. Great way to reduce shedding in your house. You can also use the zoom groom to help sud up your pup in the bath.
Keep grooming session short to start with. Make sure they are fun. If you are having trouble at home, do not persist and cause stress to you and your dog. Always finish your grooming session on a positive note. Take your pup to a reputable grooming salon for their help. Set your pup up for success for the rest of their lives!

Free Puppy Grooms
Puppies come in all shapes and sizes and they all have different grooming needs. Every dog is going to have a bath at some time in their life. Whether it is at home with you or at a grooming salon.
Even if you feel that you are going to bath your dog at home, there may be an occasion later in your dogs life that you might want to have them professionally groomed.
As dog groomers, our job is to make your pooch look their best and we want to do that by causing them the least amount of stress possible.
Whether you have a fluffy dog who will need grooming every 6 weeks for the rest of their life or a short coated dog that requires minimum grooming, our free puppy groom is an essential experience for your pup.
The younger you start exposing your pup to sights, sounds and feelings of being groomed the more likely they will become used to it and accept grooming as a normal way of life.
The free puppy groom helps us to establish a relationship with your pup. We can also determine their requirements for grooming including their coat condition but also their behaviour. Some dogs are not very helpful when it comes to grooming and will require frequent visits when they are young to teach them to accept the grooming and avoid behavioural problems when they are bigger.
Please do the best for your puppy and introduce them to grooming from a young age.
Being dog groomers we obviously love working with dogs. Dog grooming can be a very hard job, but getting to groom pups like the ones below help brighten our day!

New range of dog food in store now!
Black Hawk dry food has been gaining popularity and
due to demand we have decided to stock the range in our store.
Previously only available to breeders, Black Hawk is fast becoming
one of the most sought after dry foods in Australia.
Although we advocate for raw fresh food diets for our pets,
dry food has its place and having a good quality option is very important.
We look for quality foods at Nose 2 Tail Pet Care and we feel that
Black Hawk is a good addition to our range.
Dry food is great for treat dispensing toys,
as a treat, as an accompaniment to a raw diet and for emergencies.
As we believe that cats specifically should be fed a raw/wet diet we will not be stocking the Black Dog cat range.
Puppy Lamb & Rice is available in 3kg bags (20kg bags are special order only)
Adult Lamb & Rice is available in 3kg & 20kg Bags
Adult Chicken & Rice is available in 3kg & 20kg Bags
A day in the life of a cat groomer
As cat groomers, we have a huge variety of experiences every day. We love what we do and enjoy the variety.
Here are some of the things as cat groomers that we get to enjoy every day when we groom cats!
Cat Grooming is very misunderstood. People think that as cat groomers we will be attacked by cats and that the cats will freak out. In most cases grooming cats is very relaxing for us and for the cats.
Some cats require a little more speed and handling techniques, but majority of cats that we groom are more relaxed after they have been to see us. This is possibly due to the fact that we are trained in cat grooming, we enjoy it and we are a cat exclusive facility.
We love grooming cats and look forward to it every day. For more information about our cat grooming, please click here
