Molly Mutt Eco Friendly Beds

We are constantly on the look out for new exciting products that are going to help reduce our impact on the environment. Our order has just been placed with Molly Mutts who have designed some super stylish beds that are rather unique.

Normally when you buy a bed you are paying for the stuffing as well. With Molly Mutts they have created a bed cover that you can stuff with all your unwanted clothes, bedding and old toys to create a very environmentally friendly product.

One you have your stuff sack simply fill it with the old t'shirts, socks, toys, dog beds, pillows, blankets, sheets and any other soft things you've got laying around your house. Your dog gets a new bed, and you get a fun, easy way to recycle your old things - not to mention some extra space in your closet. By having a few Molly Mutt covers you can always have a fresh cover available rather than needing to wait until the one being washed dries out.

By "upcycling" your household leftovers, you save money and help keep textiles out of land fill. When the cover itself wears out, it too can be used as part of the stuffing for a future diy dog bed.

Pet Odours GONE!

One big concern to a lot of pet owners are the odours that are often associated with their pets bedding and the areas they frequent. Well we have come across some great natural products that can help with reducing the pesky smells we would love to be rid of.

Pure Bamboo have a Pet Area Deodoriser which is made from pure bamboo charcoal which is a by product of natural bamboo. This product doesn't just "cover smells" but actually removes them along with moisture and chemicals.

Moso Bamboo is one of the fastest growing resources on the planet, with amazing abilities and benefits for all. Moso Bamboo is not a food source for Pandas as there is no leaf growth on the first 5 meters of the stem and is too high for them to reach.

The product is very simple to use. Place the sachet near your pets bed, cat litter box, bird cage or any other are where strong unpleasant pet smells are a common problem.

Bamboo charcoal removes strong odours caused by wet dogs and urine. Also prevents mould and mildew in pet areas.

Once a fortnight, place sachet in direct sunlight for two hours per side and it will last up to 1 Year.

After use you can mix the bamboo charcoal into your garden soil to nurture your plants.

Another product is Pet Goe which is an enzyme based spray that removes all traces of pet odour, especially those from urine. Within minutes of use, all traces of odour and urine will be gone.

This is a great product for people with puppies who are toilet training as puppies will return to a place they have used before as it has the scent that attracts them back. Pet Goe will remove this and help make your toilet training a lot easier. It is also a natural alternative to some of the mainstream products that have more dangerous ingredients.

Pet Goe is fully biodegradable and breaks down rapidly in drainage and septic systems so there is no impact on the environment.

We use this product in our salons and think it is fantastic. We often get dogs coming in and lifting their leg so we will always follow up with a spray of Pet Goe. Give this great natural product a go and you will be pleasantly surprised!

We are waiting on a shipment of Nature's Defender from America. This product has been a great success for our customers wanting a natural alternative to flea and tick treatments. There has been a name change and it will now be known as Dr Bens Evictor.
Good news also is that they have come out with another size, so along with the 4oz and 946oz bottles, they now have 16oz bottles.

Our Opinion:

We think these are a great idea, because many conventional and popular parasite treatments involve applying toxic poisons to your pets skin/coat etc. In an ideal world none of us want to do this to our pets, as we don't really know the effect the poisons are having on their system. Well now there's finally a safe, convenient alternative that you only need to remember annual - as opposed to monthly, 2 monthly etc. Liquid chemicals risk accidental overdose, poisoning (pet licking the area), or accidents with humans or other animals coming into contact with the chemicals. With the Skudo all those worries are gone.

No treatment is 100% guaranteed, so we can only go by the results of the official testing performed and use our own judgement as to how much and what sort of precautions to take to combat pet parasites.
